It was just a few years ago that former radio and TV personality Mike ‘Woody’ Woodward found himself once again backstage at the Grammy Awards, hosting programming and interviewing celebrities for a world-wide audience. According to Woodward, the event was bittersweet. “The industry had been changing for several years, and I felt my time in the spotlight was over, whether my exit would be voluntary or forced, I was not sure.” As it turned out, it was a combination of both. San Antonio residents may remember Woodward as the host of ‘The Woody Show’ heard for many successful years on Clear Channel’s MIX96.1, and later on KTFM 94.1,  as well as a short stint on talk radio KTSA. Woodward also hosted entertainment reports daily on local TV, seen on WOAI Channel 4. Before arriving in San Antonio, Woodward had success in the Los Angeles, San Francisco and Atlanta markets as well.

Life after the spotlight saw Woodward working for ratings powerhouse Nielsen, mega marketing firm GMR, and most recently at a San Antonio based tech and wellness company, Walkingspree. A chance encounter online would lead Woody in a new direction. “I happened to stumble upon an opening for a Marketing/Communications position for Christian Senior Services, home of Meals on Wheels, Grace Place (Alzheimer’s activity centers) and the Senior Companion charities. As a son with a mother that suffers from Alzheimer’s and has utilized Meals On Wheels, I felt a calling to use my marketing and creative experience to give back to the residents of Bexar County.”

Woody begins his new position as Marketing/Communications Director for Christian Senior Services on November 3rd. It is apparent speaking with him that this new position is very personal. “I feel blessed to have an opportunity to bring my years of experience creating successful marketing campaigns and promotions to a beloved and well respected non-profit like CSS. The services they provide every day are vital. It is that time in my life that I wish to use my experience to give back and I am excited to get started. My goal is to spread the great news about the wonderful work of these charities, and to help feed and care for more seniors than ever before right here in Bexar County!”
